What I want to learn
Helping, encouraging, and inspiring others
As a Product Advocate, I want to find solutions for clients and potential clients. I love identifying issues that can be improved. I love being faced with complex problems and breaking those problems down into small enough pieces so they can be easily solved. I hope to use my management, communication, and teaching skills to help others find adaptive solutions to such complex problems.
I hope to be a subject matter expert and explain those subjects in a way that is concise and easy to understand. If you can't explain something to a 10-year-old, you probably don't understand the subject well enough 😊.
As a firm believer in the Scrum methodology, I think the key to success is to get a working solution in front of the client as soon as possible to get feedback. I believe assuming without data leads to wasted work time, and assumptions should be constantly tested to ensure everyone is on the right track.
I hope to learn inside-out the products Vercel offers and be a champion for those products. To do so, I also need to identify product issues and increase awareness of those issues.
Amazing article that has positively impacted me
This article with Sal Khan is inspiring.
I LOVE the work Sal Khan has done for education. As a homeschooling mom and passionate educator, I can honestly say that Khan Academy has changed my and my children's lives. Khan Academy's motto of "every student, every classroom, Real results" resonates deeply with me. I have seen many people (children and adults) give up on learning or think it stops at some point. Khan Academy makes learning pretty much anything straightforward and accessible. It makes learning fun, which is the key to success. Khan Academy also emphasizes the mastery approach, which means it is ok to keep with a subject until you fully understand it.
This article talks about effective education and how it applies not only to schools but to the business world. The article also covers human concentration, something that we tend to forget. Try sitting through a marathon meeting and concentrating the entire time - it is almost impossible. Whether it be work or learning institutions, we need to constantly challenge the status quo and think for ourselves regarding what works and doesn't work when learning new things.
Sal Khan is an inspirational leader; learning more about him is also inspiring. I love his approach to work and family. He sets hard lines - this is time for family and work. He then works his tail off to ensure he stays within those lines. Setting clear goals and sticking to them is the key to any leader's success.
